Hello! My name is Daming. I’m from China. I can speak Chinese and English. And I can write some English too. I have got two pen friends, Alice and Mike. We often write to each other.

I’m Alice. I’m from Canada. It’s cold here. My hobby is skating. I also like playing in the snow. I know something about China from Daming. I want to go to China with my parents this winter holiday. We’ll visit many beautiful places there.

I’m Mike. I’m an American boy. Thanksgiving is my family’s favourite festival. We always have a special meal on that day. After the big dinner, I like to watch a football game on TV. Playing football is my hobby. I really love it!

Lily is a new student in this school. Her friend tells her school rules. You can run on the playground. Don’t run in the classroom. You can borrow books in the library. Don’t talk in the library. You should listen to the teachers in class. Don’t sleep in class. You can answer the teacher’s questions. Don’t talk with others. School starts at eight o’clock in the morning and finishes at four o’clock in the afternoon. Don’t be late for school. You can have lunch at school. Don’t eat in class. Lily knows the rules now. And she will be a good student.

Zihan is a new student in this school. Her fiend tells her the school rules:

China is a big country. There are lots of things to see. From east to west,you can see many long rivers and high mountains. There are also many big lakes. In winter it is warm in the south. But it is cold in the north. You can play with snow in the north and you can go swimming in the south. Beijing is the capital of China. You can visit the Great Wall there. It’s about twenty thousand kilometres long. People here are very friendly. Do you want to visit China?

The Smarts are looking at a map of China. They want to visit many places for their winter holiday. Mr Smart wants to visits Tibet(西藏). He wants to climb the mountains and ride a horse. Mrs Smart wants to go to Hong Kong. She wants to do some shopping. Amy wants to go to Harbin. She wants to see the beautiful snow and she wants to skate and ski. Sam wants to go to Guilin. He likes the mountains and the stones. He wants to go boating. Tom wants to stay at home and play computer games.

There is a famous saying, “He who doesn’t reach the Great Wall is not a true man.” Yesterday was Children’s Day. I went there with my classmates.

In the morning we got up early and took a bus. On the way we saw many high buildings on both sides of the road. It took us two hours to get there. When it was in front of us, we couldn’t help crying, “What a great sight!” “How marvelous (不可思议的) it is!” Then we started climbing. It’s more than 20, 000 kilometres long. I was the first to reach the summit (山顶).

After visiting the Great Wall, I am very proud of the ancient Chinese people. From now on I must work hard to make our country stronger and more beautiful.

Jim is a good student at school. He never breaks (违犯) the school rules. All of his teachers like him a lot. But he is not a good boy at home. He often makes a mess (杂乱) in his room. He doesn’t like to help his mother set the table (摆放餐桌). He often watches TV all evening on weekdays. He goes to bed very late and reads in bed.

The polar bear (北极熊) is a very big white bear. It lives near the North Pole. At the North Pole, there is only snow, ice and water. The polar bear lives in the snow and ice. The polar bear has got thick fur (厚的皮毛) to keep (保持) warm. People can’t see the polar bear in the snow clearly(清晰地) because it’s white.

The polar bear is three metres long. It can stand on its back legs. It is good at swimming. Its food is birds, fish and sea animals. It goes into the water when it gets frightened.

I’m John. There are many rules in my family. I am not happy and I feel bored about them. First, I should get up early every weekday because I have to(不得不) go to school. Next, I can’t watch TV from Monday to Friday. At the weekend, I should do my homework, do the housework and help my parents. On Sunday evening, I can’t go out to play with my friends. I should go to bed early. I don’t like all of these rules. I like playing football and singing songs best. They are my hobbies. But the family rules are good for me. I should follow(遵守) them.
