It was Sunday. Wang Jun and Li Qiang didn’t go to school. They went to the museum. They saw many photos of planets (行星) there. The photos are very interesting. They also saw photos of an astronaut. He is the first man on the moon. His name is Armstrong and he is from America. Wang Jun and Li Qiang wanted to know something about the Chinese space program (计划). So they watched a video about the spaceship. And they knew Shenzhou IX took three people into space in 2012. They were very proud of our country.

Big Ben

Big Ben is not the name of a man. It’s the name of a big clock in London. This clock has four faces. So, no matter where you stand, you can read the time on the face of Big Ben. Each face is the size of a bus. The hands are about four meters long. If you go to London, you may want to visit the Houses of Parliament (英国议会大厦). There, you will find Big Ben at the top of the clock tower in the House of Parliament. You will probably(有可能地) hear it and see it. The big clock makes such a loud noise. It rings every quarter(一刻钟) of an hour. Big Ben is the most famous symbol(象征) of London.

The City Mouse and the Country Mouse

Once there were two mice. They were friends. One mouse lived in the country the other mouse lived in the city. After many years the Country mouse saw the City mouse; he said, “Please come and see me at my house in the country.” So the City mouse went. The City mouse said, “This food is not good, and your house is not good. Why do you live in a hole in the field? You should come and live in the city. You would live in a nice house made of stone. You would have nice food to eat. You must come and see me at my house in the city.”

The Country mouse went to the house of the City mouse. It was a very good house. Nice food was set ready for them to eat. But just as they began to eat they heard a great noise. The City mouse cried, “Run! Run! The cat is coming!” They ran away quickly and hid.

After some time they came out. When they came out, the Country mouse said, “I do not like living in the city. I like living in my hole in the field. For it is nicer to be poor and happy, than to be rich and afraid.”

Mike was busy last weekend. He washed his clothes on Saturday morning. On Saturday afternoon, he studied math. On Sunday morning he cleaned his room, then he visited his grandparents. On Sunday afternoon, he played football and used a computer.

Yesterday was Saturday. It was a sunny day. In the morning, May and I walked to Jack’s home. It was his birthday. I bought some comic pictures for him. He liked them very much. We ate the birthday cake and lunch together. We had a good time.

John had a long holiday last month. He went to Hangzhou and visited his grandparents. He went there by plane. John played with his cousin on the first day of the holiday. The next day, he visited the West Lake. It was very beautiful. He went boating. He climbed a mountain, too. He stayed in Hangzhou for five days. For the last day of the holiday, he came back home and did his homework, then prepared to go back to school.

Last Sunday, it was a sunny day. My father and I visited my grandparents. We went there by car. We did many things. My grandparents were very happy when they saw us. Grandma cooked fish for us. After lunch, I played with my cousin. He is one year older than me. We had a good time.
