Hong Kong is a beautiful and famous city in China. It’s in the south of China. People can go to Hong Kong by plane, by ship or by train. There are more than seven million people in Hong Kong. They speak Chinese and English. Every year, people from all over the world visit Hong Kong. They can watch horse races. They can also visit beautiful parks in Hong Kong. And they can eat delicious fish, meat and vegetables. There are really a lot of things to do in Hong Kong.

George studies at the No. 3 Primary School. There are about 800 students and 50 teachers in his school. George is in Class One, Grade Five. He likes English and Music best. His English teacher is Mr Brown. He comes from the UK. He’s a nice man. He can speak a little Chinese, but he can’t write in Chinese. Mr Wu teaches George Music. He can sing very well.

Susan is from Canada. Her hobby is 1． books. On Saturdays, she 2． goes to the library to read books. She likes travelling too. There is a map of China on the wall in her room. She visited China last year. She 3． a good time in China. Susan ate lots of Chinese food. Susan had some dumplings. They were very nice. But she couldn’t use 4． well. It was not 5． for her to use chopsticks.

“Man’s best friend” may (可能) not mean another person. It may be a lovely animal—a dog! It shows the friendship (友谊) between people and animals. Dogs and other pets can bring joy (乐趣) to people. Some people think of their pets as their children.

Animals can help people. Dogs can be the “eyes” for a blind person or “ears” for a deaf person. They make people happy. Some people take them to hospitals to play with sick (生病的) people. Dogs can help them get better!

If you have a pet, try to play with it and give it good food. If you don’t have a pet, be kind to animals around you. For example, if you see a street dog, just leave it alone (别管它), or make friends with it. If others do bad things to animals, try to stop them. We are animals’ best friends, so we must help them.

Water, Ice and Vapour (蒸汽)

Water, ice and vapour look and feel different, but they are the same thing. Ice can change to water, and water can change to ice. Vapour can change to water, and water can change to vapour. When you boil (煮沸) water, it changes to vapour. If you get the vapour and cool it down, it changes back to water. When you put water in the fridge (冰箱), it changes to ice. If you take the ice out of the fridge, it changes back to water in normal (正常的) temperature (温度).

Ants (蚂蚁) are 1． and black. They have a small head, a small 2． and two feelers (触角). They are all good runners. They are very 3． every day. Some of them get the food. Some of them take care of (照看) young ants. Some ants make their homes under the stone. They have a queen (王后) ant. She is bigger than any other ants. The queen ant doesn’t work but she can 4．.
