The Spring Festival is Chinese New Year. There is a name for every Chinese year. We may call it the Year of the Horse, the Year of the Monkey or the Year of the Pig… Before New Year's Day, people go shopping and clean their houses. On New Year's Eve, there is a big family dinner. They usually eat dumplings. After dinner, all the families stay up to welcome the New Year. On the first day of the New Year, people put on their new clothes and visit their friends. They say “Happy New Year!” to each other.

The Spring Festival is the Chinese New Year. It’s usually in February. Sometimes it’s in January. It’s my favourite festival. Before it, we clean our house and buy flowers. On the first day of the Spring Festival, I wear new clothes. We visit our relatives (亲戚) and friends. We say “Happy Spring Festival” to each other. I can get lucky money from my parents. We always have a big family dinner at the Spring Festival. We eat dumplings. Dumplings are our favourite food. And we have peanuts and sweets. I think it’s very interesting.
