Sam lives in the countryside (农村). One day he goes into the town to buy something. Then he goes into a restaurant and sits down at a table. When he looks around, he sees many old people put eyeglasses (眼镜)on before reading their newspapers, so after lunch he goes to buy a pair of glasses.
The man in the shop lets him try on a lot of glasses, but Sam always says, “No, I can't read with these.”
The man is more and more surprised(吃惊的). He says, “Excuse me, but can you read?”
“No, of course I can't!” Sam says. “That's why I want to buy a pair of glasses. I think they can help me read.”
