The wolf and the fox wanted to eat the rabbit. But it is not easy to catch it. One day the wolf said to the fox, “You go home and lie in bed. I’ll tell the rabbit that you died. When it comes to see you, you can jump and catch him.” “That’s a good idea,” said the fox. He went home at once. The wolf went to the rabbit’s house and said to the rabbit, “Come and look. The fox died.”

The rabbit came to the fox’s house. The fox was lying on the floor with an open mouth. The rabbit said to the wolf, “If a fox died, his mouth should be closed.” When the fox heard this, he closed his mouth. The rabbit knew the fox did not die and he ran away. The wolf and the fox couldn’t catch the rabbit again. What a clever rabbit!

Many years ago, Cheng Yi was a great teacher in China. And Yang Shi was one of his students. One day, it was snowing. Yang Shi and his classmates had some questions to ask his teacher for help. When they arrived at the teachers’ office, Cheng Yi was sleeping. They did not want to disturb (打扰) their teacher. So they waited out of the office. At that time, the snow was very heavy. After a long time, Cheng Yi woke up and found his students waiting outside the snow. He felt very sorry to them and asked them to come in quickly.

Later, people called the story “Cheng Men Li Xue” (程门立雪) . It shows the love from the students to their teachers.

Mr. Wang thinks he is very clever, but he always does foolish (愚蠢的) things.

One day, he saw a beautiful bell (铃铛) at the top of a door. “Oh! How nice! I will take it back home.” He thought, “What can I do?”Then he had an idea. “Aha! I have an idea now. I can plug (捂着) my ears. Then I will not hear the ring when I take off the bell.” Then he did so. But when he took off the bell, the owner opened the door. “What are you doing?” the owner said angrily.

One day, a mosquito (蚊子) said to a lion, “I am not afraid of you. I’m sure I can win if we have a game.” The lion was angry and wanted to catch the mosquito. The mosquito flew to bite the lion’s nose because there was no hair. The lion was so angry that he scratched (抓破) the face with the fingers and finally the lion asked the mosquito to stop.

The mosquito won the game and flew up and down in the air proudly, but suddenly he fell into a spider’s web. He couldn’t leave and the spider would eat him. At last he said, “I beat the lion, but now the little spider will eat me.”

The bear and the fox had cooking competition (比赛) in the forest. The fox was the winner the year before. He was famous, so he had many other animals working for him. They baked (烘烤) bread and made pizza. The fox did nothing but slept.

The bear did his best. First, he cleaned the pots and the pans. He washed his hands. Then he began to bake bread. He also baked some cookies. He made a yummy pizza, too.

The fox was ready. All other animals tasted the food. First, they tasted the food of the fox. The bread was too hard and the pizza was too salty.

Next, the animals tasted the food of the bear. The bread was soft and the pizza is delicious. They all like the food the bear cooked. The bear won the competition!
