Our street has a street party every year. It’s always in the summer, but not on the same day each year. We look at the weather report (预报) and try to find a nice day for the party.

On the day of the street party, every family comes to the park at the end of the street. We will get some balloons (气球)   from a shop and put them in the trees. We put tables in the middle of the park. Every family has to bring some food and drinks to share with all the other families. Every year, there’s also a jumping castle (充气城堡) for the kids to play in. It is dear to rent (租) the big jumping castle for a day and every family has to pay. All parents are happy to pay because the jumping castle can keep all the kids occupied. The parents can have free time to enjoy the food and drinks when talking with each other.

I can’t wait for the next street party.

Wang Xiaoming is a Chinese boy. He comes from Zhanhe District, Pingdingshan. There are four people in his family. His father is a worker, his mother is a housewife and his elder brother studies in a high school.

Wang Xiaoming is twelve years old now. He has big eyes and a small nose. He is short and strong. His mouth is wide and he has big ears.

Today Wang Xiaoming goes to the junior high school for the first time. His mother takes him to school by electric-bike. In his classroom, his head teacher stands in front of (站在……的前面) the students. He says, “Hello, boys and girls. Nice to meet you! Welcome to Class Three, Grade Seven. My name is Zhang Dashan. You can add (增加) ‘Mr.’ before my family name when you call me.” Wang Xiaoming listens carefully (仔细地).

When Wang Xiaoming takes a break on the playground, the head teacher sees him and says, “Hello, my boy. What’s your name, please?”

“You can call me Mr. Wang,” he says.
