Do you know Linda Miller? She is our English teacher. She is tall and beautiful. We often call her 1．. We all like her very much 2． she is good to us. She always smiles(微笑) and she likes to play games with us.          

Linda has a daughter. Her name is Kate. She can speak Chinese well. She thinks it’s 3．. Kate and I are good friends. And we are in the same school. After class, we always read books 4． two hours in the school reading room.

Do you want to know something about American schools? The same as Chinese schools, American schools begin in September after a long summer holiday (暑假). There are two terms in a school year. The first one is from September to January and the second is from February to June.

Most American children begin to go to school when they are five years old. They usually spend twelve years in primary school (小学) and middle school. Most students are seventeen years old when they finish middle school.

Middle school students take only four or five subjects each term, such as English, math, science and so on. They are helpful and welcome. The students have classes happily every day. Of course, they have homework every day. The most common (普遍的) kind of homework is book report (读书报告). To finish homework, they need to go to the library a lot.

They have many activities (活动) after school. Some of them are about sports, like swimming, ball games and running. The students have a good time from these after-school activities in their free time.

It’s Sunday morning. Mary doesn’t go to school. She says to her mom, “1． Can we go to Huaxing Clothes Store?”

“Well, what do you need, Mary?” Mom asks her.

“My skirt is small, so I want a new one. 2． ” Mary says.

“I see. Let’s go now.” says mom.

In the store, Mary sees a blue skirt. 3． So she asks the woman in the store, “How much is it?”

The woman says, “It’s twenty dollars.”

“Oh, that’s too dear (昂贵的). Do you have a cheap one?” says Mary.

“4． It’s only fifteen dollars.” says mom.

Mary says, “Well, it looks nice! I’ll take it.”

After that, they buy a pair of green shoes, too. The shoes are only eleven dollars.

It is Sally’s ninth birthday. What does Sally do for her birthday? 

Sally has a new blue dress for her birthday gift. It is from her mother. The blue ring is from her sister. The blue pencil box is from her brother. The blue radio is from her father. They all know her favorite color. The ping-pong ball and bat are from her friend, Cindy. Sally doesn’t know how to play it, but Cindy says it is easy. Sally’s friends like sports. They play basketball and volleyball with her.

Then, they eat lunch. Sally has good habits. She likes to eat right food. Sally doesn’t want to be fat, so she doesn’t eat burgers or ice-cream. Sally likes healthy food like fruit and vegetables. They are good for her. 

After lunch, Sally and her friends watch TV. They have a good afternoon!
