Should friends be different or the same? Different people have different ideas. The following is what four of my classmates say.

My name is Susan. I am outgoing. I like to have friends who are similar to me. Both my best friend Linda and I like traveling. We went to Italy with our families last summer vacation. We stayed there for two weeks. Next year we want to go to Paris.

My name is Mary. I like to have friends who are different from me, My best friend Betty is shorter and more outgoing than me. I am quiet and I like reading very much. Betty likes sports and she plays ping-pong well.

I’m Peter. I like to have friends who are like me. It can be very helpful. I’m a little quiet and my good friend Rick is quiet, too. Sometimes I don’t know what to do with my problems and he can tell me what I should do, because he knows about me better than people who are different from me.

I’m Bill. I have both kinds of friends. I think it is important. That makes my life more interesting.

Have you ever seen a dentist (牙医)before? Taking care of your teeth is necessary. And it’s important to have healthy teeth. They can help you speak clearly. Do you want to have healthy teeth?

Follow my suggestions.

It’s not enough to brush your teeth only once a day. Brush your teeth at once after each meal. Food debris (残渣) can make your teeth ill slowly. And you should brush all of your teeth, not just the front ones. Spend some time on the teeth along the sides. Take your time while you are brushing.

Spend at least three minutes each time when you brush.

Eat fewer candies or other sweet food. Lots of fruit and vegetables can make your teeth strong. Drink more water instead of drinks such as coffee and Coke.

Go to see a dentist and ask him to check your teeth once a year. He can find out your problem before it becomes too serious.

If you follow these suggestions, you’ll have white and healthy teeth.

The Chongyang Festival is a traditional Chinese festival. It is on the ninth day of the ninth lunar (农历的) month.

The festival started as early as the Warring States Period (战国时期). It has a history of more than 1,700 years. Of the numbers from zero to nine, nine is the highest number. People believe when two “nines” meet together, it stands for (象征) a long life. So it is a special day for Chinese people to show love and respect (尊敬) for the old.

People do many kinds of activities to celebrate the festival. They drink chrysanthemum wine (菊花酒), eat Chongyang cakes and climb mountains. They also wear a kind of plant named dogwood (茱萸). People in the old days believed that the plant could drive away bad things and stop them getting ill (有病) in winter.
