Chinese people have a good time during the Chinese New Year. It usually comes in January or February. Each year gets a name according to the lunar calendar(阴历). It may be called the Year of the Dog or the Year of the Monkey instead of(代替) 2018 and 2028.
Usually there are dragon dances in the street. The dragon is a legendary (传说的) animal about 20 feet long. It is made of paper and cloth. Men hide under the dragon and make a lot of noise by shouting and laughing. There are always lots of fireworks. After the dragon dances, the children sing and dance in the street. The children are happy because they can get some red packets (红包). There is some money in them.
