Mr. Reece works on a farm. He and his wife grow a lot of plants and they have some cows. Every day they work hard from morning till night. One day, Mr. Reece says to his wife, “Let’s go to Portsmouth next Sunday. We can have a good lunch and then we can go to the cinema.” His wife is very happy when she hears this, because they always eat a lot, and she doesn’t like cooking three times a day. They go to Portsmouth by bus and walk about for an hour. At twelve o’clock, they want to have lunch. In front of one restaurant, they see a notice. It says, “Lunch: 12:30 to 2:30, 1.5pounds.” “Well, that’s good.” Mrs. Reece says, “This is the place for us.”

I was poor when I was young. But when I was 16, I could beat anyone on the football field. My high school coach was Ollie Jarvis, who not only believed in me but also taught me how to believe in myself. One particular experience with Coach Jarvis changed my life forever.
It was during the summer vocation. I had a chance to get a summer job and make some money that I wanted very much. I decided to give up my summer football camp to earn the money. When I told Coach Jarvis, he was as angry as I expected him to be. “You have your whole life to work,”’ he said. “But your playing days are limited. You can’t afford to waste them.” I stood there before him with my head hanging. “How much are you going to make from this job?” he asked. “$3. 25 an hour,” I replied. “Well,” he asked. “Is $3. 25 an hour the price of a dream?” That question made me think about the difference between wanting something right now and having a goal. I spent the whole summer training on the football field, and within the year I was chosen by one of the best teams in the state.
I finally achieved my goal in life because I followed my dream. The point is that no matter who you are and no matter where you are, you should always have a dream. And this dream will show you your direction like a beacon to a shop at sea at night.

A good memory is a great help in learning a language. Everybody learns his mother tongue when he is a small child. He hears the sounds, remembers them and then learns to speak. Some children go abroad and live with their parents in foreign countries. They can learn two languages easily because they hear, remember and speak two languages every day. At school, it is not so easy to learn a foreign language because pupils have only a little time to practise it, and they are busy with other subjects too. The more you practise, the better your memory will become, and the more quickly you learn.
